Alfonso Murube Urquijo (born January 25, 1931, in Seville, Spain; died January 20, 2019, in Seville) was a renowned Spanish ophthalmologist. He was particularly known for his expertise in corneal transplantation and ocular surface diseases.
Murube dedicated a significant portion of his career to researching and developing innovative techniques in eye surgery. He made significant contributions to the field of lacrimal surgery, including advancements in the treatment of dry eye syndrome.
He held prominent positions, including being the Head of Ophthalmology at the Virgen Macarena University Hospital in Seville. Murube was also a respected educator and mentored many ophthalmologists throughout his career.
